Obituary

MICKIEWICZ, Nancy E. (Comeau), 62, was a lifelong resident of South Boston until moving to Scituate in 2021. Nancy succumbed to a nearly 40-year battle with kidney failure on September 15, 2023, a disease she fought bravely, with only determination and optimism, focused only on living and creating memories with her children and grandchildren.

Nancy was the proud and grateful wife of Michael E. Mickiewicz with whom she shared 41 years of marriage, and was blessed with 3 loving children, Michael James and his wife Patricia, of North Andover, and Lori Jean and her husband Alex, and Jessica Maire and her husband Christopher, of Scituate. Nancy’s greatest joys were in being with her grandchildren, Adelaide and Nora Mickiewicz, Annabelle, William and Alexander Joachim, and Patrick, Piper and Andrew Ducey. She was the devoted daughter of the late Leo V. Comeau, Sr. and Irene Rose (Martin).

Nancy was the proud sister of Ronald M. Comeau of South Boston and his late wife Beth, the late Leo V. Comeau, Jr. and his surviving spouse Patricia of Centerville, Alan G. Comeau and his wife Heather of Hanson, Sharon M. Ponte and her husband Joel of Dover, NH, her sister and best friend Irene R. (Cookie) Comeau of South Boston, the late Douglas E. Comeau of Raymond, NH who was her second kidney donor, Lorraine (Lori) J. Lynch, who was her first kidney donor, and her husband Robert of Middleborough, and Christopher P. and his wife Denise of Kingston. Nancy also leaves a treasure trove of nieces and nephews and cousins and prided herself on maintaining close relationships with all of them.

Nancy was a proud and devoted employee of the Boston Licensing Board up until her death. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to The Kidney Project at Vanderbilt University Medical Center at [email protected]. or to P.O. Box 290369, 525 Royal Parkway, Nashville, Tennessee 37229 or to the National Kidney Foundation at [email protected] or to 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York. Nancy would like to especially remember Dr. Jeanine Carlson at Tufts Medical who provided her with nearly 40 years of expert and loving care and the staff at both Tufts inpatient and outpatient dialysis units and Dr. Dana Miskulin and her DCI team in Somerville who became like her second family.

Nancy would also want to acknowledge the anonymous donor who gave her a third chance at life with his or her kidney donation. Love you the most, Nancy, till we meet again.
