John Casper Romp, age 84, of Camarillo passed away May 5, 2023, at his home after an extended illness.
John was born on April 19th, 1939 in Ventura, to John and Zelda Romp. He graduated from Randsburg High School in 1957. He met his wife Susan at a high school football game in Ridgecrest; they would have been married 60 years this past July.
John was a Union Plumber and Pipefitter with Local #484. In his spare time, John loved to hard rock mine for gold. He would spend many weekends in the Randsburg area mining with his father, uncle and brothers. He also enjoyed the adventure of finding and exploring old mines.
In the last few years of his life, John only became more kind and generous, never complaining about his declining health. He would follow the news religiously and would debate the injustices of the world, always siding with the common man.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Susan Elaine Romp. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly R. Romp, son, Sean C. Romp and 4 grandchildren.
John was laid to rest with his wife, on May 16, 2023 at Ivy Lawn Cemetery with a small gathering of friends and family.
Arrangements were under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
