Obituary

Robert S. “Bob” Allard, 67, of Pheasant Run, Smithfield, passed away on Tuesday September 12th at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence.

Born in Providence, he was a son of John E. and Patricia A. (Scott) Allard. He grew up in Smithfield, where he participated in the Boys Scouts and Little League Baseball. Attracted by opportunities in the oil and natural gas industry, he found employment in Louisiana, where he spent most of his adult life. For many of those years he worked in the Gulf of Mexico for Western Wireline as an on-site engineering safety specialist. To live on or near the water was a source of real satisfaction. He resided in Raceland, LA, until this past May, when he returned to family and familiar surroundings in Smithfield.

Bob enjoyed sharing outdoor activities and adventures with his children as they grew up, whether camping, hiking, or fishing. A talented cook and especially fond of sea food, he specialized in Cajun cuisine when providing a celebrational meal for family and friends. He took delight in driving down roads and highways, jamming to the radio with the volume dialed to the max.

He leaves his triplet children, Matthew Allard and Daniel Allard, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Kelsey Allard of Tucson, Arizona, his mother Patricia and his sister Nancy Allard of Smithfield, and his brother Fr. John E. Allard, O.P., of Providence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 23, at 10:00 AM in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt Pleasant Avenue, Providence. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, September 22, in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be private.
