Obituary

Charlton – Edward LaPLante, 69, a longtime resident of Charlton, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 with his family by his side after a brief battle with cancer.

Mr. LaPlante is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carline H. (Howard) LaPlante; two daughters, Melissa LaPlante of Webster, MA and Melinda LaPlante of North Grosvenordale, CT; 4 grandchildren Ali LaPlante, Ethan Puzo of Sturbridge, MA, Zackary LaPlante of North Grosvenordale, CT, and Nathan Bouffard of North Grosvenordale, CT and 1 great grandchild, EllaJean.

Mr. LaPlante leaves many extended family members as well. Daughter, Holly Dancause of Dudley, MA and her husband Dennis Dancause Jr., and their 2 sons, Dakota Dancause and Brayden Dancause. Son, Mark Pillsbury Jr. of Thompson, CT and his wife Jessica Dusoe, and their 2 sons Noah Pillsbury and Jacob Pillsbury. Daughter, Jennie Mix, of Pomfret CT and her husband Eric Mix, and their 2 sons Deven Mix and Owen Mix. Son, Michael Bouffard of Dudley, MA and his wife Tracy Bouffard, and their 2 sons Noah Bouffard and Michael Pashoian. Daughter, Amy Pillsbury of Charlton, MA and her husband Rob McGrath, and their daughter Noalla McGrath. And his dear friends Paula and Robert Taylor, of Maine and their family.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Richard and Vera (St. Pierre) LaPlante and is also predeceased by a son, Billy Joe LaPlante.

Mr. LaPlante grew up in Worcester and graduated from the former Worcester Boys Trade High School where he studied painting and decorating. He retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Health and Human Services Division where he worked for over 20 years. Mr. LaPlante previously worked for American Optical in Southbridge for 20 years as a buyer, planner and master scheduler before going to work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

He was an avid M & M’s Memorabilia collector. You could often find him doing woodworking projects or doing work in his yard but he was truly the happiest when he was “Mudding” on an ATV trail or traveling with his wife.
