Obituary

BILLERICA Maurice Joseph ‘Moe’ Lessard, 95 of Billerica, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the widower of the late Arlene L. (Pitre) Lessard with whom he shared 40 years of marriage with before she passed away in 1999.

He was born in Lowell on February 13, 1928 and was a son of the late Albert and Marie (Bellemare) Lessard. He was raised in Lowell, where he attended the area schools graduating from Lowell High School.

In 1946, Mr. Lessard enlisted with the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1955.

Moe dedicated over 25 years of his life as an auto assembler at GM in Framingham before retiring due to the plant's closure. He was an active member of the American Chess Federation and delighted in playing chess on Fridays at the Billerica Senior Center. His passion also extended to fishing, with a particular fondness for saltwater fishing.

He is survived by his children, Doris Gagnon and her husband, Robert of Pepperell, Roland Archambault of Danville, NH, and Rocky Ericsson and his wife, Paula of Billerica; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his longtime close friend and fishing buddy, Ronald Tomlin of Billerica.

In addition to his wife and parents, Maurice was welcomed into heaven by his son, the late Robert Archambault; his daughter, the late Melody Hull; and his siblings, the late Raymond Lessard, Andrew Lessard, and Rita West and her husband, Bud.

On Wednesday, September 20, 2023 all are welcome to attend to attend his calling hours from 10-12 noon at Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury 978-851-2061. His funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 12 noon, followed by burial and military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.
