Margherita Zammitti, age 74, of Medford passed away on Tuesday, September 12th. Born and raised in Pisa, Italy she immigrated to the U.S. in 1972. Margherita was a doting mother and grandmother, and would help anyone in need. She also loved gardening, and would walk everywhere, especially enjoying nature and viewing the water.
Margherita was the beloved wife of the late Giuseppe Zammitti, and the devoted mother of Stefano Zammitti and his wife Mary-Grace of Billerica, Carmelo Zammitti and his wife Elizabeth of Stoneham, David Zammitti of Medford, and the late Maria and Salvatore Zammitti. She was the loving grandmother of Stefano Jr. and Domenic Zammitti and is survived by her sister Lucia, and her brothers- and sisters-in-law: Victoria Scudo and her husband Gaetano, Lina Schiavone and her late husband Salvatore, and the late Carmelo Zammitti and his surviving wife Tina. Margherita is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, her dog Cookie, and her parakeets.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting with family on Thursday, September 21st from 4 through 6 PM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Margherita’s Funeral will be held on Friday, September 22nd at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
