SHAPLEIGH- Stephen John Garrett passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home on September 11, 2023, ending his struggles with cancer. Steve was born on April 26, 1941, to F. Raymond Garrett and Anastasia (Dyke) Garrett of Revere, MA. He Graduated from Revere High School, Revere MA in 1959 and enlisted in the Army 1959-1961, Army National Guard 1961-1970.
Steve was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 42 years Penelope (Burt) Garrett. Who passed before him and loving brother to: Harold, Austin, Lester, Fred, Melvin, and one sister Rita. Whom also passed before him.
Steve leaves behind his three sons and family: Scott and Loretta Garrett of Shapleigh, ME, Gregg Garrett and his life partner Dawn Medford of Waterville, ME, and Jason Garrett of Salem, NH. Nine Grandchildren; Aaron Lyons, Jessie Garrett, Jason Garrett Jr., Kristen DeSantis, Stephen Garrett, Taylor Garrett, Ryan Garrett, Joseph Garrett, and Anjilee Garrett and one great grandchild Liam Doty. He is survived by his life partner of 17 years Ruth Joanne Hall of New Port Richey, FL. And three sisters: Marion Maniff, Stella Pierce, and Jean Flight.
Steve was a Junior Warden at Saint Stephen Episcopal Church in New Port Richey FL. Steve was known for his great sense of humor, love for woodworking, carpentry, fishing, and spending time with his family. A memorial service will be held at St Paul’s Episcopal Church 166 High St Newburyport MA. on September 30, 2023 at 10 am, followed by a Celebration of Life immediately following.
