GORHAM- Barbara Ann (Rein) McGarvey, aged 87, passed away on September 10, 2023, at Gorham House following years of living with diabetes and dementia.
She was born in St. George, Maine, the oldest daughter of the late John and Frances (Wasgatt) Rein.
After graduating from Menomonee Falls High School in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, she attended nursing school in Portland, Maine, before she was married to J. Barry McGarvey.
Barbara was a beloved cashier at the Gorham Hannaford for 20 years.
She loved playing bingo and going to the casino, and in her younger years, Barbara loved nothing more than bowling. Nothing can beat her prized possession of her Earl Anthony signed bowling bag.
She was a past President of the WBA (local chapter) and PTA while raising her children in Wisconsin. Barbara not only found fulfillment in her large family, but she also found joy in engaging in her local community. She was a founding member of the Concerned Citizens of Oconomowoc.
She is predeceased by her husband Barry, her sister Marilyn, her son Brian Peter, and her brothers and sisters-in-law.
Barbara is survived by her 11 children: Kelly (Warren) Rowell, James (Laura), Terry Lynn, Shawn, Jon (Laura), Kathleen, Michael, Colleen, Richard (Sandra) Tara (Weston) Sommers, and Timothy: 14 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Her brother Jack Rein and sister Patricia Brandt. Brother in laws Wayne and Richard McGarvey. Along with many nieces and nephews both in Wisconsin and Maine.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 22, with viewing from 2 to 4:30 PM and service at 4:30 PM at the Chad E.
