Joan Anne (Roderick) Briggs, born April 5, 1932, was called home to the mansions of heaven, which our Lord had prepared for her, on September 6, 2023. Dear daughter of the late Catherine Agnes Gaffney. Joan was born in Rockland, Massachusetts and received the gift of salvation in Christ through holy baptism in 1932 at St. Colman’s Church in Brockton Massachusetts where she was made a child of God. She was a devout Catholic and was fortified through God’s Word and Sacraments. Joan cherished her role as mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life was lived out in loving service and sacrifice to all people.
Joan was the beloved mother of Catherine Gardner and her husband Edward, Reverend Robert Briggs and his wife Lisa, Mary Anne Briggs and Linda Briggs and her husband Willie Tice. She was the beloved grandmother of Mathew Gardner and his wife Claire, Bobby Briggs, Wesley Gardner and his wife Catie, Kevin Kameese and his wife Rebecca, Kieth Kameese, Katie Ovares and her husband Diego, Laura Briggs and her husband Alex Clippinger, Brian Poor and his wife Kayla and Elizabeth Rojas-Freire and her husband Vicente. She was the dear great grandmother of Kristopher, Anderson, Reese, Briella, Noelle, Benjamin, Ryder and Kalleigh. Joan is predeceased by her first-born baby daughter Carol, her beloved brothers Edward and Frank, beloved sister-in-law Rita and beloved great grandson Lucas.
Private family services have been held. Joan’s mortal remains have been laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton Massachusetts until the great day of the resurrection when all in their graves will hear the voice of our Savior Jesus to awaken her from her sleep and unite her body and soul to live in eternal joy and glory. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of all mercy, and the God of all consolation! He comforts us in all our sorrows so that we can comfort others in their sorrows with the consolation we ourselves have received from God.
Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
“And behold, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
To honor Joan’s life, it would please her greatly if you could pay it forward by extending an act of kindness to someone in her memory.
Soli Deo Gloria!
