Bedford, NH – Raymond A Latulippe, age 91, died peacefully on September 9, 2023 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH following declining health.
Ray, as he liked to be called or Pep as his 9 grandchildren called him or Great-Pep as his 12 Great-grandchildren called him, was a lifelong resident in the town that he loved dearly, Bedford, NH. Ray was born in October of 1931. He was one of seven children born to the late Israel and Mary (Delisle) Latulippe. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Pauline in 2019 and 4 of his brothers Armand, Robert, Roland and Albert.
In the late 50’s, Ray was invited to a dance, in Bedford of course, where he met Pauline, which he thought she must be rich because she was a nurse and she thought he must be rich because he owned a car, which they found out not to be the case and it was ultimately true love from the heart that pulled them together. They were married in May of 1960. Ray and Pauline built their forever home right next to the home that Ray grew up in as a child and it was there that they raised their 6 children in Bedford, NH.
Ray’s family was the center of his world and he cherished the many moments spent with his loved ones. He delighted in being a wonderful husband, loving father, and proud Pep and Great-Pep. His heart would melt when he would see or hear from any of them and would just beam with pride to see any of them succeed, show him pictures, awards or tell him stories about their adventures. One would think a smile and show of pride couldn’t be any more immense. He was an extraordinary one-of-a kind man, often referred to as “the salt-of-the-earth”, never complaining or asking for help. Ray will be remembered for his kind and selfless ways. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and anybody who had the pleasure of knowing this remarkable man.
Ray was a dedicated parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Church for many decades. He was a fixture at many masses serving as a greeter, always being sure that everyone had somewhere to sit and passing the collection basket and when he was a little too weak to pass the basket, he always made sure that someone would be there to take on that responsibility.
For the majority of Ray’s working career, Ray was known as the “Chip Man”. Ray was a potato chip/pretzel snack delivery route salesman for a few different companies with the last being Bachman. Ray was a fixture at grocery stores across the State taking pride in putting up his displays in the wide variety of stores that he serviced. Anyone that knew Ray knows that he is a people person and loved to talk to people, always smiling and always there to help anyone along the way. After retirement, Ray worked at the Manchester Airport as a screener which was perfect for the “people person” that Ray was with the thousands of people coming through on a daily basis that he was able to smile and talk to. A celebrity, who lived locally, frequently passed through the gates at the airport, fondly gave Ray the nickname of “Boss Man”. But it didn’t matter who you were, Ray always had a wave and smile for everyone.
Ray was an avid New England sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. In Ray’s younger years, it was often that you would find him at the Bedford Bowl-a-Drown as he belonged to many bowling leagues.
Ray’s surviving family members include his children, Raymond G. Latulippe and his wife Bernadette “Bunnie” of Meredith, NH; Linda Filiau and her husband Rick of Pembroke, NH; Simone Drewes and her husband Artie “Badger” of Bedford, NH; Paul Latulippe of Rochester, NH, Norm Latulippe of Manchester, NH and Jocelyn Paquette and her partner Mark Auld of Kennebunkport, ME; Ray is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 12-great-granchildren who meant the world to him and will miss their Pep/Great Pep dearly. Ray is also survived by his sister Eva Barstow of Moore, OK, his brother Leo and his wife Claire of Hudson, NH, his sister-in-law’s Frances and Marlene of Manchester, NH and several nieces and nephews. Nothing brought a smile to his face quicker than a visit, post card, call or photo from his grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 4 to 7 pm at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 10 am in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd, Bedford.
Committal prayers will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd.
