Shirley (Anderson) Lundin, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, following a short illness. Shirley was the beloved wife for 62 years of Warren E. Lundin. Born in Winchester she was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Nicholson) Anderson.
Shirley was raised and educated in Woburn and was a 1957 graduate of Woburn High School where she was a proud member of the Majorette Team. Following high school and the return home of Warren from his military service the young couple soon married and began their family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Nothing made Shirley happier than to be surrounded by her family and those she loved. Shirley was always front and center in her children's lives as well as being a doting grandmother, always being there to support her children and grandchildren with all their activities. Family was her primary focus and she will be greatly missed.
Shirley worked for over 35 years at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital where she served as the Director of Medical Records, implementing over the years many new and innovative ways to record keeping for her department and the hospital. She continued to volunteer for several years following her retirement. In her leisure time, Shirley enjoyed music, nights out dancing and was a lifelong member of the Viking Club of Woburn and enjoyed taking part in many traveling excursions organized by the Club. Shirley also looked forward to spending summer vacations at Old Orchard Beach in Maine and spending the winter months for the last fifteen years in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida.
In addition to her beloved husband, Warren, Shirley is survived by her children; Sharon Lundin of Woburn, Sherry Ahearn and her husband David of Billerica, Steven Lundin and his wife Maureen of Chelmsford, Keith Lundin and his wife Marisa of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Lindsay Opsteegh and husband Patrick, Courtney Ahearn, Stephanie Santos and husband Kenny, Christian Lundin, Nolan Kelly and wife Yan Ni, Brianna, Hunter and Brooke Lundin. Loving great grandmother of Tyler, Bennett, Deacon, Saylor, Carter, Harrison, and Blake. Sister of the late Harold "Hunka" Anderson and his surviving wife Marie of Woburn.
A funeral service will be conducted at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, September 15th, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
