Stephen W. Crawley, 75, of Weymouth, Massachusetts passed away on August 27th at the South Shore Hospital of natural causes after long living with diabetes and dementia.
Steve was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1947 to a military family and soon after settled in Westwood, MA, the son of the late Walter and Dorothy Crawley. There he graduated high school in 1966 and would go on to graduate in 1972 from Wentworth Institute of Technology, with a degree in engineering.
He resided in Quincy, Braintree, and finally Weymouth and spent the majority of his career as a water treatment plant operator in that town.
Despite illness later in life, Steve was very active. He could always be found with either a stick shift, pool cue, hammer, or dog leash in hand. Very devoted to his family, he made many memories with them and visiting them between Hummarock and Cape Cod. But he was always happiest sitting around a table with them playing cards or working in the yard.
Steve leaves behind dedicated advocate and wife Marilyn Crawley “Dolly” of 30 years; a grateful son Eric and his wife Carri Bertelson; and his sisters Nancy, and her husband Robert Reynolds; and Joyce, and her husband Andrew Hossfeld; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He leaves to join his brother Charles, chase his dogs Lady, Brandy, and Midnight, and be followed by his faithful cat Dustin Pedroia.
He will rest at Milton Cemetery on September 15th at 10:00am where family and friends can come to celebrate his life.
In keeping with his wishes, donations can be made to the MSPCA and the Joslin Diabetes Center in lieu of flowers.
