Obituary

Justin M. Monteiro, 40, of New Bedford died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Born in New Bedford, Justin was a proud Carney kid and a 2001 graduate from New Bedford High School. He went on to study at Bridgewater State College and Bristol Community College. Being an avid sports fan led Justin to pursue his dream and graduate from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting.

He was employed as a Budtender at Bask, Inc. He was the owner and digital content creator of The Baldies Podcast Network. In addition, he hosted The Loud Sports Show with his younger brother and the Big 3 Podcast. Over the last few years, he also produced and influenced many other podcasts.

Justin played Defensive Tackle for the 2007-2008 New England Football League AA Champions, The Whaling City Clippers. He was also a Coach for the Troy City Titans. In his spare time, Justin enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. He loved watching football with his brother, dad and friends and loved having a good laugh with everyone. He was most known for giving the BEST and BIGGEST HUGS.

He is survived by his parents, Paul W. Gomes, Sr. and his wife Nadine, and Michael Monteiro and his wife Melinda, his brothers Anthony P. Gomes and his wife Bethany, Michael Monteiro III, and Paul W. Gomes, Jr. and his wife Shalyn, and his sisters Kelly Melendez and her husband Roberto, and Chenoa Via. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, godparents and his beloved nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins.

He was predeceased by his loving mother, Gwendolyn A. (Hamlin) Henry.

His funeral service will be held on Monday September 11th at 9 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
