Obituary

Winona M. (Pierce) Allen, 70 of Lowell, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of the late Frank R. Allen with whom she shared nearly 36 years of marriage with before he passed away in 2009.

She was born on September 29, 1952 in Lowell and was a daughter of the late Richard Pierce and the late Helen (Moriarty) Pierce. She was raised in Lowell where she attended the neighborhood schools graduating from Lowell High School.

Winona dedicated more than two decades of her life to her career as a solderer, retiring from Raytheon after also working at Wang. Her passions included arts and crafts, particularly knitting and crocheting, as well as spending cherished moments with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, for whom she was an affectionate grandmother. Her vibrant personality remained with her right up until her final day.

Winona is survived by her three sons, Frank Joseph Allen and his wife, Christine of Lowell, Ronald Michael Allen and his wife, Melissa of Lowell, and Timothy David Allen and his wife, Patricia of Lowell; her ten beloved grandchildren, Ronald Michael Allen Jr., Rennae Michelle Allen, Timothy David Allen Jr., Isabel Emily Allen, Ashleigh May Allen, Frank Joshua Allen, Allysandra Francheska Allen, Dezzerae Rose Allen, Amelia Summer Allen, and Madison Jade Allen; her sisters, Helen Quigley and Maureen Couture both of Lowell; her sister in law, Carol Pierce; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, the late: Pat Kasilowski, Bob Dumont, Richard Quigley, Rita T. Dumont, James W. Pierce, Richard Pierce, and Richard Kasilowski; as well as her siblings in laws, the late David Allen, George Allen, Charles Allen, Robert Allen, William Allen, Mildred Smith, Dorothy M. Fells, Shirley Beaulieu, Lillian Allen, Bob Couture.

On Monday, September 11, 2023 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 9 a.m.-12 noon at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816. Her funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 12 noon followed by procession to St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell for burial.
