Doris McBrayer Marchant, 89, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ashley Roig officiating. Mrs. Marchant will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 10, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Marchant’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born September 9, 1933, in Tift County, Mrs. Marchant was the daughter of the late Richard Thomas McBrayer and Myra Bell Stephens McBrayer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lee Marchant; five brothers, Clarence McBrayer, Charles McBrayer, Vernon McBrayer, James “Jimmy” McBrayer and Michael “Mike” McBrayer; one sister, Mildred McBrayer Smith; a son-in-law, Gary Pate; and two granddaughters, Amanda and Samantha Marchant. Before retiring, she was a registered nurse at Tift Regional Medical Center and she was a home health nurse. She taught nursing courses at ABAC and South Georgia College and retired early to take care of her husband. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Tifton. She was also a member of the Excelsior Community Club, Club 51 and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was happy when she was working in her flower garden and she loved to travel.
Mrs. Marchant is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Donna Marchant of Metter; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marilyn and Dwayne Law of Chula and Pamela Marchant Pate and Missy and Paul Goodman, all of Tifton; one brother, Gene McBrayer of Sylvester; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Kirk and Dawn Law, Jeremy and Meghan Law, Chip and Laura Pate, Allen and Brittani Pate, Ashleigh and LC Leesa, Alexandria and Logan Lively, Kaleb and Kaitlyn Marchant, Kyle and Victoria Goodman, Kris and Jared Luttrell, Bowen and Melissa Goodman and Jessica and Richard McDuffie; 21 great-grandchildren; and many special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Tift Area, Tammy Tidwell, Tammy Middlebrooks, Pamela Drayton and Sue Sutton for their loving care of their mother.
