Clif passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023 at the age of 80. He was born in Greybull, WY to Charles (Pete) Steelman and Juanita Helen Kinney. He moved to Prosser when he was 6 years old, where he lived until he joined the US Air Force in 1960.
While stationed at Baker Air Force Station in Baker City, OR he met and fell in love with Shirley Rhea Murray and 6 weeks later, on September 2, 1962, they were married.
Clif and Shirley moved to Prosser in 1964 where he worked for Les Schwab and Prosser Pack before going into the Electrical Trade.
They welcomed their first child, Clifton Robert (Jayne) in 1964, followed by Symantha Dawn (Clyde Sanda) in 1966 and Stephanie Dianne (Chris McBride) in 1970.
Clif ran a fast-freeze fish cannery in Middle Bay, Alaska from 1970-74 and then returned to Prosser where he and Shirley raised their three children.
He worked as a Project Manager for Lord Electric in Richland, WA from 1977-1989. He and Shirley owned several commercial and residential properties in downtown Prosser. Clif was a fixture in downtown Prosser, clearing sidewalks of snow & ice, visiting with anyone and everyone he met, and could be heard whistling as he walked.
Clif was a happy guy who always had a joke to share and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He cared deeply for people and loved to counsel them. He ended every interaction with “Have a great life!”, and he meant it!
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and older sister, Juanita Speaks.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley, his three children & their spouses, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers and 2 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private graveside service for family at Prosser Cemetery.
