Obituary





Willie Brown, Jr., 92, of Worcester died Thursday, August 31st in the Life Care Center of Auburn. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Beverly A. (Vickers) Brown; four sons, Byron Brown of Oakland, CA, Bruce Broadard and his wife, Sharon of Worcester, Darryll Brown of Texas, and Chance Brown and his wife, Kristen of Worcester; four daughters, Rennetta Brown and her husband, Stephen Winchell of Fountain Hills, AZ, Clarrissa Belcher and her husband, William of Worcester, Lissa Brown of Raleigh, NC, and Tricia Brown of Worcester; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and extended family. He also leaves Gary and Strong Eagle Daly who were like children to him. He was predeceased by two sons, Noble Brown and Robert Broadard.
He was born in Byron, Georgia the son of Willie Brown, Sr. and Hattie Lee (Shannon) Fernandes and graduated from the former High School of Commerce and Hampton College. Willie retired from the United States Marine Corps as a MSGYT following 30 years of dedicated service working as a heavy machine mechanic. He was a member of the Military Order of Devil Dogs Pound #64. A master mechanic all his life, Willie also worked for Jenkins and Robinson and retired in 1996 from Bancroft Motors.
Willie was a member of All Saint’s Church, the Marine Corps League where he served as the Commandant, and a Veteran of Foreign Wars. He liked to play softball and played well into his 60’s, he also played basketball for the Miles Standish League, and was in a bowling league. Willie was an avid football fan, and enjoyed going to Patriots games as a season ticket holder. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, always making a point to attend his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s events. Willie was thrilled to be able to celebrate his 90th birthday with all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was known for his contagious smile, bear hugs, his willingness to help anyone and everybody, and a great sense of humor.
Calling hours are Friday, September 15th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 16th at 10:30 a.m. with Military Honors in section Valor at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton.
