Adeline A. "Lena" (Accaputo) Angiulo of Somerville passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family at the Massachusetts General Hospital, on Sunday September 3rd. She was 97. Born and raised in Boston’s West End, Lena was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Michelina (Sarno) Accaputo.
Lena worked for many years as a stitcher at the famed Salvy’s Sportswear. After the business closed, Lena devoted herself to working as a certified nurse’s assistant at the Sunrise Nursing Center in Lexington. Full of youthful energy and great compassion, she worked well into her 80’s caring for the residents. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Lena enjoyed time with her family and friends. She especially liked to vacation at the beach or to load-up the car with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for a day at the beach or a road trip to Canobie Lake Park. She shared a great bond with her brothers and sisters and their children. She was a thoughtful and kind woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
Lena was the beloved mother of Anthony Angiulo and his wife Jean of Stoneham, and Michelle Bowler and her husband Michael of Somerville. She was a loving grandmother to Anthony, Christy, Michael and Lea as well as a loving great-grandmother to Anthony, Nicholas, AvaLoren, Michael B., Michael A., Dante, Joseph, Cash, Marco, Nico, Cruze and Kingston. She was a devoted sister to Mary Accaputo and her companion Paul Ski and the late Anthony Accaputo, Phyllis Accaputo, Dolly Accaputo, Gloria MacInnes, and Sonny Accaputo.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, on Sunday, September 10th from 3 – 6 PM. Funeral service and burial will be held privately.
