Edgar R. Contreras, age 63, of Brockton, passed away on September 3, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton. Born and raised in Guatemala, he was the son of the late Berta Coronado. Edgar was educated in Guatemala where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from San Carlos University.
Edgar was a hard-working and caring person, he loved to cook, especially for the holidays. He loved to make his family and friends laugh. He was employed at the Seaport Hotel and was presently a Culinary Supervisor for over 20 years.
He enjoyed good times with all his family, he was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, enjoyed walking his dog, Toby and bike rides on sunny days. Spending time with his family was special and part of his happiness was being able to watch his nieces and nephews grow.
Edgar is survived by his siblings Rene Contreras of California, sisters Blanca Vasquez and her husband Carlos Vasquez of Brockton, Maria Contreras of Guatemala City, Elsa and her husband Luis Esquivel of Guatemala City, and was the brother of the late Luis Coronado, Mario Coronado, Armando Contreras, and Roman Contreras.
Edgar will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his nieces, nephews and extended family that loved and cared for him very much.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, on Thursday, September 7, from 5-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
