Deborah Ann Reece Strong, 69 of Millis, MA and formerly of Lexington, MA passed peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by so much love with her devoted husband, Marvin, of 48 years and their three daughters by her side. Loving mother of Susan Lewis and her husband, Kevin; Kristen Gardner and her husband, Peter; and Allison O’Connor and her husband, Andrew. Cherished and dedicated “Mamma” and “Granny May” to Tyler Gardner; “Grandma” and “Grand Ma Ma” to Kailyn Gibson; “Grandma” and “Grams” to Ashley Gibson; and “Grandma” to Lacey Lewis. Best friend and partner in crime to her grandpup, Cali. Beloved daughter of the late Norman Reece and Nancy Russell Reece. Loving sister of Kathryn Reece, Ronald Reece, and the late Robert Reece. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Born on October 12, 1953, in Niagara Falls, New York. Deborah lived in Lexington with her parents and siblings until she met her high school sweetheart, Marvin. They were married in 1974. Marvin and Deb built their lifelong home in Millis with finalized touches and a move during the Blizzard of ‘78. They raised their daughters in this house and later would host many sleepovers consisting of late nights and giggles with their grandchildren. Their house is well-known to many of their daughters’ friends as a place of love and safety as Marvin and Deb created a supportive home for several of their daughters’ friends who needed a place to stay.
Deb was the strongest person; despite many significant health challenges throughout the last eleven years, she continued to remain positive and actively engaged in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She was present for every sports game, cheerleading competition, school bookfair, graduation, birthday party and holiday event. Deb devoted her time to assisting others wherever possible including chaperoning many of her daughters’ school field trips, serving as a Girl Scout Brownie troop leader, and working with the Suicide Hotline. Deb was the parent volunteer to drive her children and their friends everywhere. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, school projects, crafting and last-minute road trips with her children and their friends to Northville, NY. Christmas was her favorite season of the year. An amazing baker and cook with celebrated sauce and meatballs, special barbecue mini hot dogs, homemade sugar cookies, casseroles, hors d’oeuvres and of course, the famous cheeseball. She was passionate about sharing these traditions with her children and grandchildren. Deb cherished game night with her family and friends, hosting family gatherings, and loved to play with her children and grandchildren. Shopping trips were always welcomed! A best friend and confidant to her daughters and biggest cheerleader for her grandchildren. The most empathetic and loving woman who always put the needs of her family ahead of her own.
