Obituary

Rose J. (Visocchi) Sweeney, the loving wife of late Donald F. Sweeney Sr., with whom she was married for 62 years, died Sunday, September 3rd, 2023 at Belvidere Healthcare Center in Lowell.

Rose was the daughter of late Carmine C. Visocchi and the late Vincenza (D’Arezzo) Visocchi, she was born June 28 ,1928 in Sudbury, MA where she attended school until moving to Lowell and graduating from Lowell High School in 1946 as a member of the National Honor Society.

Rose was employed by Prince Macaroni Mfg. Co. as an office worker for 11 years, a homemaker for 14 years, and was employed by Compugraphic/AGFA for 21 years, retiring in 1993 with perfect attendance.

Rose was a former member of the Mother Cabrini Society at St Peters Church, League of Catholic Women Assoc. of Marion Helpers and a communicant of St Francis Parish in Dracut.

In her leisure time, Rose enjoyed playing Bingo, scratching lottery tickets, doing crosswords and word searches, and hitting the slots on her many trips to Foxwoods.

Rose is survived by her three sons, Donald F. Sweeney Jr. and his wife Janis of Florida, Gary D. Sweeney and his wife Patricia of NH, John Sweeney of ME, and her daughter-in-law Lisa Sweeney of MA. Rose is also survived by her five grandchildren, Jeremy (Kristen), Scott (Emily), Melodee (Marquise), Casey (Kaitlin) and Brandon (Paige), as well as her three step-grandchildren, Anthony, Alex (Amy) & Jonathan (Michelle); seven great-grandchildren, James, Layla, Marquise, Luci, Ethan, Delia, Juno; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Richard Allard, sisters-in-law Barbara Visocchi, Rachel Visocchi, and Helen Murphy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her Granddaughter Beth, and Great-Grandson Tyson, her sisters and brothers Caroline Visocchi, Genevieve Rivanis (James), Augustino Visocchi (Georgia), Charles Visocchi and Joseph Visocchi, as well as her late husband’s brothers and their spouses.

On Thursday, September 7, 2023 Her funeral service will take place privately at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury, MA.
