Michele Di Stasio, age 87, of Medford passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1st, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Luogosano, Italy, he was the son of the late Alberto and Raffaella (Di Gregorio) Di Stasio. Michele immigrated to the U.S. in 1962, settling first in Dorchester before moving to Medford in 1965, where he lived the remainder of his life. Michele worked as a finish carpenter and built beautiful cabinetry. He was also an avid gardener, and loved making sauce for his family. Michele enjoyed mushroom hunting and making wine, but most of all he loved playing with his grandchildren.
Michele was the beloved husband of Antonietta (Mangenese) Di Stasio, with whom he shared 61 loving years together. He was the devoted father of Alberto Di Stasio of Saugus, Emilio Di Stasio and his wife Stephanie of Danvers, and Michael Di Stasio and his wife Anna of Stoneham. He was the loving grandfather of Mia, Domenica, Michael, Joseph, Emily, Tiana and Christian, and the dear brother of Mario Di Stasio and his wife Marina, Maria Di Stasio and her late husband Giacamo Gelmini, the late Modestino Di Stasio and his surviving wife Angela, and the late Concetta Di Stasio and her late husband Angelo Tedoldi. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with family on Thursday, September 7th from 4 through 8 PM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Michele’s funeral will be held on Friday, September 8th at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
