Nicoletta “Nicky” DiNunzio, 94, formally of Franklin, died on September 1, 2023 at the Milford Regional Hospital. She was the wife of the late Sebastiano DiNunzio for 62 years. Most recently, she lived at the Maples Nursing Center in Wrentham, MA.
Nicoletta was born in Lanciano (CH) Italy, the daughter of the late Giovanni and Concetta (Fresca) Caporelli.
She came to the United States in 1949 with her husband and daughter and settled in Franklin, MA.
She retired in 1988 after 20 years as a seamstress at the Wrentham State School. She also worked for a many years at Kearney’s Drug Store in Franklin, and as a beautician in Franklin.
Nicoletta was a communicant at St. Mary’s Parish in Franklin. She volunteered for many years at the parish cleaning linens when needed. She was a regular member at the Franklin Senior Center and enjoyed her weekly exercises and luncheons there. Nicoletta had many friends, and her door was always open for coffee and homemade pastries. She loved her family and was an exceptional hostess for the holidays and family gatherings. She was a superb cook in her own right. People never went away hungry.
Besides her late husband, she has a brother Clemento “Eddie” Caporelli of Woonsocket, a daughter Emilia Costello and her husband Paul of Franklin, and a son Camillo and his wife Gail of Wrentham.
She was blessed to have three grand children Jaime (Costello) and Greg Foster of Plainville, Kevin Costello and his wife Melissa DelPrete of Cranston, RI and Jillian DiNunzio and her husband Robert Datta of Winthrop, MA.
She has three great-grandchildren, Katie and Benjamin Foster and Evan Costello. Nicoletta also has many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.
A funeral service is set for Saturday September 9, 2023 with a Mass at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin. Burial will follow at the family plot in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be private for the family only.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill St, Franklin, MA 02038 or to the Franklin Food Pantry, 341 W Central St, Franklin, MA 02038.
