Valerie J. Murphree, 68

Valerie J. (Foster) Murphree, age 68, of Mansfield, formerly of Foxborough, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 2, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Michael L. Murphree, to whom she was wed on October 9, 2009.
Born in Canton, MA on February 14, 1955, she was a loving daughter of the late Carole A. (Dumaine) Foster-Carlino and William F. Foster, Sr.
Valerie grew up in Norton and was a 1972 graduate of Norton High School.She continued her studies and attended Fisher Junior College in North Attleboro to be a Medical Assistant. Valerie had been employed as a Mental Health Worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, working at various locations throughout her career.
Valerie was a former member of the Church of Christ in North Attleboro and the Edgewood Church of Christ in Mansfield. She had a deep faith in God and a special love for family.
She enjoyed paper crafting, crocheting, scrapbooking and amateur photography. During the height of Covid, she willingly helped others by making facial masks for their personal protection. Valerie was a brilliant researcher on family history and quite proud of being a descendant of Susannah Martin, one of the Salem witches. Valerie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and will always be remembered for the special place in her heart she held sacred for animals.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her devoted children: Christopher M. Hewes and his wife Margaret of Worcester, Nathan E. Hewes and his wife Limary of East Bridgewater, Laura E. Page and her husband Lance of Enfield, Connecticut and John T. Murphree and his wife Jeanna of Medford. She was the cherished grandmother of Colin, Brennan, Maximus, Alton and Haskell. She was the dear sister of Jon R. Foster of Attleboro, Cynthia J. Foster of Attleboro, Elizabeth M. Dykens of California, William F. Foster of Springfield, Andrew M. Foster of Norton, Jeannette M. Foster of Millis and the late Mark A. Foster. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 8th from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours on Friday, September 8th at 11:00 at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
