Gary E. Maher, age 74, passed away on August 30, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on July 26, 1949 in Holyoke, son of the late Edward and Pearl (Sherman) Maher. Gary was a US Airforce Veteran who served during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a machinist for the former Hamilton Standard for over 35 years before he retired. Gary loved to take care of his lawn. He enjoyed trips to the casino and to Saratoga to watch the horse races. He also enjoyed bowling and watching golf with his wife. He is survived by his beloved wife Gail Maher of Springfield; one son, Matthew Maher of Palmer; one daughter, Kathryn McLain and her husband Philip of Sicklerville, NJ; one step-daughter Kelly Robbins and her husband Greg of Palmer; two brothers, Richard Mahar of West Springfield and David Mahar of Chicopee; one sister Kathleen Bauer of Springfield and five beloved grandchildren, Quinn, Daniel, Cora, Zachary and Olivia. He is predeceased by his brother Fred Mahar. Committal prayers and Military honors will be rendered in the Chapel of the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 3:00 PM.
