Obituary


Joseph "Joe" Henry Connors, Jr., 88, of Woburn, Massachusetts, passed away on August 31, 2023, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. Joe was born on October 14, 1934, in North Woburn. "Sonny," to his friends and family, was known for his kind and generous nature, always ready to lend a helping hand. He had a caring and creative spirit that brought joy to those around him. With his fun-loving and funny personality, he could always put a smile on your face.

Joe was a loving partner to Margaret Van D. Bullard for 35 years. He is survived by his sisters; Barbara June Green and Shirley Mae Devine, his children; Debra Connors of Chico, CA, Dianne Connors of Addison, VT, Gayle Connors of Bedford, Carolyn Connors of Gloucester, Joseph H. Connors, III of Woburn, Dawn and her husband Peter Lennon of Winchester, Keith Connors of Woburn, Patricia and her husband Robert Salamy of Wellesley, his grandchildren; Jennifer and her husband Charles Valente, Jr., Renae Connors, Joseph H. Connors IV, Jason Levreault, Jr., Peter Lennon, Jr., Jack Lennon, Sara Salamy, his great grandson Sean Valente and many loving nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph H. Connors, Sr. and his deeply missed mother, Emily, as well as his grandsons; John Michael Lipsey and Matthew James Carney.

Joe attended the Linscott Rumford Elementary School in North Woburn and graduated from Somerville Trade High School in Sommerville, MA. Joe proudly served in the Air Force for four years at the end of the Korean War, contributing to the nation's defense as a radio man. After his military service, Joe dedicated 36 years of his life as an oil burner technician, demonstrating his expertise and commitment to his career. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 25 Union.

Outside of work, Sonny had a passion for fishing, gardening, and building just about anything. These hobbies allowed him to connect with nature and express his creativity. Joseph H. Connors, Jr. will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kindness, generosity, and helpful nature will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.

Family and Friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Wednesday, September 6th, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, Woburn, Thursday, September 7th, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
