David W Ward, 60, of Southborough, Massachusetts passed away on August 23, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with thymus cancer.
Dave was born to Edna (Jewers) and Bobby Ward on January 16th, 1963 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After attending high school at Algonquin Regional High School, Dave proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army for nearly 8 years. Dave then moved to Colorado where he resided for 30 years and begun his lifelong career in carpentry and had his two children, Sarah and Garret. In 2011, he moved back to his childhood home in Southborough where he lived with his brother, John, and Dave’s two children.
Dave was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, fishing, and camping. In his free time Dave loved collecting coins and model airplanes, doing magic tricks, cooking, playing the harmonica, wood working, and listening to rock n’ roll music. Dave was well known for his quick witted sense of humor, selflessness, and caring demeanor. His magnetic personality allowed him to make friends wherever he went. His favorite role of all was being a proud father to Sarah and Garret.
Dave is survived by his loving children Sarah and Garret Ward; his siblings Mari Ann Roy and her husband John; Diane Cahill; Robert Ward and his wife Mary; and many loving nieces and nephews. David is predeceased by his parents Edna (Jewers) and Bobby Ward, and his brother, John Ward.
A private celebration of life will be held at the family’s lake house in Sturbridge on Friday, September 1st starting at 2:00pm.
