MEREDITH ---- Merrill Green, 90, of Upper Mile Point Drive, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
Mr. Green was born on November 4, 1932, in Detroit, MI, the son of Daniel and Leona (Tripp) Green.
He served in the US Navy as a photographer in San Diego, CA, retiring in 1986. In his retirement, he was employed as a school bus driver for First Student. He lived in Juniper, FL for several years before moving to Gilford in January of 1995.
Mr. Green was past president of the Riviera Beach, Florida Kiwanis Club and past commodore of the Winter Harbor Yacht Club of Gilford. He was a pharmacy volunteer at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia for many years.
Mr. Green was a commercial and instrument-rated pilot, having owned several airplanes. He enjoyed boating, skiing, playing tennis and their winter Caribbean vacations.
Mr. Green is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Gayle (Thorp) Green, son Scott Green and his wife Louise of Copenhagen, Denmark, daughter Janet Green of Lake Park, FL, three grandchildren, Amy Schilling of Lake Park, FL, and Emma and Zacharias Green of Copenhagen, Denmark, four great-grandchildren, sister Joyce Bussell of Okeechobee, FL, five nieces, and six nephews. In addition to his parents, Merrill was predeceased by his son Timothy Green, daughter Laura Smith, three brothers, Donald Green, Howard Green and David Green, and his beloved Springer Spaniel, Emily.
There will be no Calling Hours.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 10:00am, at the Heritage Baptist Church, 349 Meredith Center Road, Laconia, NH 03246.
Burial with military honors will follow at 12:00pm, on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
Memorial donations in Mr. Green’s memory may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church, 349 Meredith Center Road, Laconia, NH 03246.
