DeCelles, Joseph Francis age 78, of Wellesley, formerly of Cambridge, died August 24, 2023, with his family by his side, following a decline from cancer.
Born in Pittsfield, February 28, 1945, Joe was a proud graduate of UMass Amherst. He earned his MS in Economics from Northeastern. Joe was passionate about education and exploring the world, serving in the Peace Corps in Micronesia and teaching most of his career at The English High School. After retiring from Boston Public Schools, he taught business English at EF. His family learned valuable lessons and skills from him, including how to drive stick shift. Joe was a skier, fly fisherman, and swimmer throughout his life. He was an avid reader, keen intellect, and kind soul.
Joe is survived by his wife of 34 years, Margaret Ann Williams; daughter Caroline DeCelles and her husband Daniel Schnell, of Arlington, VA; and sister Jeanne Walsh, of Salisbury, MD. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Margaret (Coffey) and his brother Richard.
