John Recco, 81, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away after a brief illness on August 20, 2023, at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus. He was born on January 2, 1942 in Lowell, he was the son of the late Michael and the late Pauline (Paduano) Recco.
He attended the Local schools and graduated from Lowell High School. During high school he was an accomplished football player, and he participated in a the playoffs in Florida in 1960. He was a communicant of the former St. Peter's Church, and more recently Saint Margaret of Scotland. In his younger days he worked throughout the greater Lowell area in construction, he then worked as for the UMass Lowell Police, earning the rank of Sergeant, and he also worked as a dispatcher with the LRTA for over 20 years. He was a Highlands resident, he found contentment in the solace of his home and his membership in the Tewksbury Rod & Gun Club exemplified his appreciation for nature.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Linda Recco of Virginia, and Paula Recco of Tyngsboro. In addition he leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his siblings; Florence Recco Ammendolia and her husband Samuel, Albert Recco and his wife Mary (Caulfield), Robert Recco and Michael Recco Jr.
You are invited to his visitation on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852. His funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 11 a.m. followed by procession to Saint Patrick Cemetery.
