Alfred “Bud” Tucker, 91, of Enigma passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at his residence with his wife of 69 years and family by his side. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Brookfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Davis and the Rev. Gary Caldwell officiating. Jeremy Moore will give a eulogy. Mr. Tucker will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Tucker will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Tucker’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Brookfield Baptist Church.
Born April 5, 1932, in Irwin County, Mr. Tucker was the son of the late Shelby Tucker and Omie Mixon Tucker. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin Tucker and Wallace Tucker; and four sisters, Estelle Tucker Milam, Betty Jean Tucker Frizoli, Dorothy Tucker Milam and Lucille Tucker Frazier. Before retiring, he was a farmer and he was a member of Brookfield Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife, Betty Whitley Tucker of Enigma; one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Alan Moore of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Jeannie Tucker of Enigma; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jaime and David Ray, Jeremy and Kristen Moore, Matthew and Whitney Moore, Clay and Denise Tucker and Jill and Joe Joiner; and 18 great-grandchildren, Alison, Emily, Eli, Ella and Lana Roberts; Will and John Mark Ray; Mollie, Mallory, Meredith, Matthew, Levi and Lyndi Jo Moore; Leah, Brooke and Luke Joiner; and Russ and Reid Tucker.
