Sisto Volpe, age 82, of Brockton, passed away on August 22, 2023, at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton. He was the loving husband of the late Joanne L. (Carlson) Volpe. They had been married for fifty-seven years before her passing in 2021.
Born in Introdacqua, Italy, he was the son of the late Cesidio and Faustina (DiMascio) Volpe.
He was raised in Dorchester and previously resided in Quincy before making Brockton his home for the past fifty years.
Sisto served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam war and served with the National Guard Group 24.
Mr. Volpe owned and operated Sisto Volpe Construction since 1978 and was proud of building over 400 houses during his career. He was a member of the local Rotary Club, Samoset Rod & Gun Club, Sons of Italy, City of Brockton Planning Board, participated in various projects in Brockton, and was privileged to actively contribute to his city and Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Sisto was a hardworking and generous person who was devoted to his family. He was very social, loved spending time with friends, enjoyed travelling, especially to Italy to visit family, and spent many winters residing in St. Crois, USVI and Cape Coral, Florida. Some of his interests over the years included bowling, watching the New England Patriots, and tending to his bountiful garden and fruit trees.
He is survived by his children, Michael Volpe and his fiancé Edith Kuiee of Taunton, Susan Volpe and her husband Jim Morris of Boxford, Steven Volpe of West Bridgewater, Francine Joyce and her husband Patrick of Raynham, and Peter Volpe and his wife Rebecca of Taunton, his grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony and Vincent Ferretti, Christina Lincoln, Julia and Nicholas Volpe, and Jessica and Kailee Morris, his siblings, Ralph Volpe of Braintree, Pasquale Volpe of Stuart, FL, Marco Volpe of Boston, and Frank Volpe of Acton. Sisto was the brother of the late Margherita Colasante and Cecilia Meschieri.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 9:30 am, for a funeral mass at 10:30 am, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West Street, Brockton, followed by a committal service with military honors at Melrose Cemetery.
