Obituary

Jacqueline "Jackie" Blossom, 73, of New Bedford passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2023 after a long illness. She was surrounded by her loved ones and beloved cats.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Charles Robert Blossom and Patricia (Robinson) Blossom, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life. However, her favorite place to call home was her house at Horseneck Beach in the 80’s. She graduated from Bishop Stang High School and Stonehill College, where she formed lifelong friendships.

She is survived by her beautiful daughter and best friend Ashley Blossom of New Bedford, and her partner Larry Robinson. She is also survived by her beloved younger sister Susan Marques of Nantucket and nieces/nephews Mitchell Pykosz and wife Kathy, Richard Pykosz, Danielle Duclos, Frank Marques, Michael Duclos and wife Jessica, and Matthew Duclos. Jackie loved spending time with her great-nieces Isabella and Charlotte Duclos. She also loved her chosen extended family members Jill Bissonnette, Meg Johnson, and Richard and Susan Ponte. She was also the Great Aunt to Ella Nance, Leila Nance, and Frankie Marques IV. She was predeceased by her sister Laurie J. Duclos in January, and her 100-year-old godmother, Peggy, in April.

She was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Lawrence in New Bedford. Her Christian faith guided and supported her when she needed it most throughout her life. She worked most of her career for Kmart as a Personnel Manager, and later in life at Bank of America and Specialty Commerce Corporation.

Perhaps her most unique fondness was for The Beatles, crediting them for her sense of humor and love of 60’s music. She loved reading and the feel of a brand-new book in her hands. She dabbled in photography and passed the love of being behind the lens onto Ashley, as well as supporting her nephew Matt, on his journey into photography. Her special place was Horseneck Beach, having family memories there for 70 years. She shared a love for Disney with her daughter Ashley. Together they celebrated her 68th birthday aboard the Disney Magic Ship.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday September 2, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Francis of Assisi in New Bedford. All are welcome to attend.
