Lorraine R. (Nasuti) “Rena” Spencer 102, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, Thursday August 24, 2023 at the Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge. She was the beloved wife of the late Matthew "Matty" Spencer, who died in 1972.
She was born on May 11, 1921, the youngest child of the late Raffaele Nasuti and Maria (DiMonti) Nasuti.
She is predeceased by her siblings; 7 brothers; Nicholas, Jack, Joseph, Albert, Louis, Fred, and John Nasuti and 2 sisters; Adeline Nasuti Ferioli and Rose Nasuti Berteletti.
Lorraine was a lifelong resident of Franklin and was educated in the Franklin Public Schools, where she graduated in 1939. On January 2023 she was proudly awarded the Boston Post Cane by the Franklin Town Council, a distinction of being Franklin’s oldest resident.
After graduating from high school, Lorraine worked at Curity Mills in Walpole and aided in the war effort by making airplane parts. While raising her seven children, she worked at Dean Junior College until she retired in 1986.
She was a loving, dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, loved by all who met her. She was proud of her Italian heritage and her love of cooking has been carried onto her children and grandchildren. She shared stories of growing up in a large Italian family during prohibition, the depression and World War II. Her children and grandchildren spent most Sunday afternoons gathered around her kitchen table for dinner, coffee and dessert sharing stories and the week’s events.
She is survived by her seven children; Marilyn Johnson, Janet Hanson (Charles), Wayne Spencer (Linda), Paula Waite (Scott), Gail Pisapio (Larry), Gary Spencer (Maureen) and Ralph Spencer (Jeanne). She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass Thursday August 31st, in St. Mary's Church, Franklin at 11AM. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
