Obituary

Worcester- Raymond J. Melesky, 81, of 21 Orient Street, formerly of North Brookfield died Thursday, August 15, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Catherine R. (Gleason) Melesky; two sons, Capt. James M. Melesky, USN of Belleville, IL and David R. Melesky of Northbridge; 6 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, Charles Melesky of West Warren died in March. Four brothers and four sisters also predeceased him. He was born in North Brookfield, son of Michael and Agnes (Sipavich) Melesky, and lived there until moving here in 1975.

Mr. Melesky was a mail handler and former Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service. After retiring, her worked at St. Francis Home. Many years ago, he worked at Warren Pump Company.

Mr. Melesky was a member of St. Stephen's Parish and a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church, North Brookfield. He was a member of the VFW in North Brookfield and the National Ski Patrol.

He was an avid skier, was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader in North Brookfield, and coached Little League. He was active at the YMCA and the Jewish Community Center.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in both the Army and the Navy. While in the Navy, he served aboard the USS Yorktown. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations. He attended the Paratroop Jump School at Ft. Benning, Georgia.

Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family .There are no calling hours.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street, is directing arrangements.
