Marvin J. Hill, age 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on August 24, 2023. He was born on July 6, 1938 in Flint, Michigan, a son of the late Ray and Elgie (Borden) Hill. Marvin served in the US Air Force and was stationed both in Greenland and Westover Air Force Base. He was a communicant of the former Holy Name of Jesus and Assumption Parishes. He worked as an inspector for United Technologies for forty years before he retired. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Elder Council #69, Tigers, Eagles, Chicopee St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, and a volunteer at the Special Olympics, First Robotics, and the Boy Scouts of America. In his spare time, Marvin loved to fish, hunt, and watch his grandchildren play sports. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Irene (Aucoin) Hill who passed away in 2010 and also by his siblings William, Emil, Milford, Mary, Evelyn, Helen, Norma and Patricia. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Niemiec and her husband Richard of Chicopee and his son, Michael J. Hill and his wife Lili of Glastonbury, CT; one brother, John Hill of Byron, MI and one sister, Virginia Overman of Clio, MI. He also leaves his five beloved grandchildren, Thomas, Carly, Persephone, Maxwell and Samuel. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St Rose de Lima Church at 10:00 AM.
