In loving memory of Larry Shealey, a lifelong resident of Fitzgerald, who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. A man of many talents, he painted the canvas of life with his skills as a painter, logger, and mechanic. His dedication to serving the Lord was unwavering, a testament to his faith. Larry found solace by the water’s edge, indulging his passion for fishing. He reveled in the excitement of Purple Hurricanes’ Friday Nights and passionately cheered for the Georgia Bulldogs every Saturday. A unique and gentle soul, he radiated love to anyone who gave him the time or chance. His happiness thrived in simplicity, and he took pride in all he possessed.
Facing health challenges, Larry’s spirit never wavered, demonstrating his tenacity and determination. With a hard-headed nature that was quintessentially “Shealey,” he showcased his resourcefulness in every endeavor. We’ve all been enriched by the lessons learned from Larry, his wisdom forever etched in our lives. As we bid farewell, let us remember the joyful, happy-go-lucky man he was, his resilience evident until the very end. Larry’s legacy is one of love, strength, and an unyielding spirit—a true inspiration to us all.
He is survived by his children: Jeffrey Shealey of Navarre, Florida, Brian Shealey of Navarre, Florida, Stephanie Kite of Ocilla and Allison Shealey of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren: Zachary Shealey, Gabriella Shealey, Brody Shealey, Grayson Shealey, Alyssa Shealey, Cayden Shealey, Gavin Shealey, Zarian Kite, Aniya Kite, Kierra Shealey and Zaylin Shealey; great-grandchildren: Paisley Shealey, Ava Carter, Ayden Carter and Rowen Carter; and a brother, John Douglas Shealey of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, Homer “Tab” Shealey and Evelyn Faye Shealey, he was preceded in death by siblings: Homer Glenn Shealey, Ronald Shealey and Wayne Shealey and a grandchild, Kiyear Shealey.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Josh Bowles officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
