Obituary

Marilyn C. (Cook) Loxley, 75 of Charlton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23rd at Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester. She leaves behind her husband of 9 years, George Loxley; a son Ryan O’Toole and his wife, Rebecca of Charlotte, NC ; a daughter, Amy Brodeur and her husband, Stephen of Charlton; five grandchildren, Molly, Jacob, Emily, Jack and Maggie; a brother, Paul Cook and his wife, Sandy of Millbury; a sister, Jean Evanowski and her husband, Robert of Auburn; her step-children, Jay Kennan and his wife, Leah of Charlton, Brett Loxley and his wife, Michelle of Foster, RI, Amber Kelley and her husband, Patrick of North Smithfield, RI, and Kim Belleavoine and her husband, Bryon of Chepachet, RI; 9 step-grandchildren, Harry, Thomas, Gwen, Grant, Wyatt, Elizabeth, Chase, Faith, and Mae; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Rosen.

She was born in Ware, MA the daughter of Robert and Joan (Cogswell) Cook. After graduating high school, Marilyn attended the Executive Secretarial program at Quinsigamond Community College from 1965-1967. After college, she worked as a legal executive secretary for the law offices of Bowditch and Dewey and later Christopher, Hayes, Wojcik, Mavricos. Marilyn was known for being a hard worker and being young at heart. She loved to go on bike rides, take family trips in the summer to Cape Cod, going dancing with George, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. You could usually find Marilyn outside, either going on walks or tending to her beautiful gardens.

Her funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 10 H. Putnam Ext., Charlton, MA 01507. There will be a calling hour on Saturday, August 26th beginning at 9:00 AM until the start of Mass at the church. A light lunch will follow Mass at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Research Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02215. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is assisting the family with arrangements.
