Obituary

Stanley Casmir Misiuk, 93, of Medway died August 23 in the Genesis Healthcare in Milford. He was the husband of Patricia A. Misiuk for the past 64 years.

Born in Worcester, December 13, 1929, the son of the late Felix and Eva (Falitarczyk) Misiuk, who came to the United States from Poland in the early 1900’s through Ellis Island, New York, Stanley was raised in Worcester and had lived in Medway for many years.

He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Worcester.

Stanley joined the Navy in 1952. He made the Navy his career and retired from active duty after 22 years of service.

During his years in the Navy, he had the opportunity to travel the world and visit many ports. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving onboard the USS Boston (CAG1) for 9 years as FTM1, which did three tours in support of troops. He also participated in many Mediterranean Sea deployments.

He began his naval career as a Gunners Mate on an LST, he served on the USS Wisconsin (BB64), and other ships. He was trained as a Fire Control Missile Technician at Great Lakes Naval Base, Il and received orders to report aboard the USS Boston.

When the USS Boston was decommissioned, he was transferred to Dam Neck, Virginia, ending his career as an instructor at the Fleet Training Center.
Upon his retirement from the Navy, he worked at Data General Corporation in Southborough for 17 years, then at Filtrona until his retirement.

Stanley was a lifetime member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks, 2136. He was Past Exalted Ruler, member of the BINGO committee, Santa for the annual Children’s Christmas party, and made many great friendships during his years at the lodge.

He was a member of the Medway VFW and the American Legion. Stanley was a BSA Scoutmaster for Troop 748 in Medway.

He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.

He always had a smile and a joke. Above all he loved his family, brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews and always enjoyed the many family reunions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son John Misiuk and his wife Wendy of Bellingham and his grandchildren, Adam and Nicole of Bellingham.

He was the brother of the late Edward, Walter and John Misiuk and Adaline Pietrewicz and Phyllis Myers.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 1 in St. Joseph Church, Medway at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
