AGAWAM - Ruth M. (Lariviere) Fortune Sinowski, 85, of Agawam and a former resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at Genesis Westfield Center in Westfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Sainte Brigide, Province of Quebec, Canada on December 29, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late Louis and Ida (Laurin) Lariviere. Her early years were spent in Canada and she moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee at the age of 13 to live with her aunt, Honora Menard. In 1962, she married her former husband, Joseph Fortune and lived in Holyoke. In 1991, she returned to Chicopee and married her former second husband, John J. Sinowski, Sr. before moving to Agawam in 2003. She was last employed as a Packer with the Vertis Advertising Company in East Longmeadow and previously worked for 27 years at the former Springfield Photo Mount Company in Holyoke. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and later was a communicant at Saint John the Evangelist Church in Agawam where she also was a member of the Knitting Group of the Church. During her leisure time, she enjoyed square dancing, roller skating and dancing. She was a competitive figure skater throughout the northeast for many years. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her two loving daughters, Denise J. Adams and her husband, David, of Richmondville, NY and Laura A. Marcoux of Agawam; her four cherished grandchildren, Corrinne E. Schoenecker and her husband, Matthew, David E. Adams, Ryan J. Adams and his wife, Roslyn, and Justin S. Marcoux; her four cherished great grandchildren, Wyatt L. and Koal M. Schoenecker and Briar R. and Reid J. Adams; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and her former husbands, she was predeceased by her four dear sisters, Cecile, Amelia, Jeannette and Rita; and her two dear brothers, Alphonse and Roger. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
