Stephen Joseph Lesniak, 74, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023 after a long illness. He was the son of the late Eugene Lesniak and Gladys (Masewicz) Lesniak. He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1967 and attended Keene State College.
Steve is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary (McManus) Lesniak, his three daughters, Erica Towne and her husband Jay of Bow NH, Alyson Chase, of Wells Maine, Rebeca Ickes and her husband Jason of Goffstown, his grandchildren, Zachary Ickes and his significant other Olivia Mignosa, Cameron Ickes and his significant other Olivia Orr, Jakob Ickes, Ruby Towne, Rachel Towne, Ryan Chase, Evan Chase, his brother Ronald Lesniak and his wife Amy, nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Steve was born on the east side of Manchester, New Hampshire where he lived his entire life. He spent his childhood days with his brother Ron, his cousin Luke and the neighborhood kids who, over the years, became his lifelong friends. They played in the Bog located between his house and the Derryfield Country Club building obstacle courses, tree camps and rafts.
Steve met his wife on a blind date in 1968 and has said many times that he instantly knew he would marry her. For over 50 years they have devoted their lives to their children and grandchildren and have had many great traveling adventures including Hong Kong, the Caribbean, the Southwest, and a train ride through the Canadian Rocky Mountains, but Steve loved Maui most of all and they visited there many times.
He started working summers at Skyline Roofing in Manchester in 1969 and began as a roofer, then a foreman and eventually moved into the office as an estimator. He bought the company in 1986 and owned and operated it until he sold it in 2019. Skyline was his life’s passion for 50 years and many of his good friends are his former employees and the many salesmen who walked through Skyline’s doors throughout the years. He was very grateful to have his brother-in-law Bernie McManus as his right hand man as he started to take more time off to spend with his family.
Steve enjoyed spending time with his wife, his daughters, his grandchildren, golfing with friends, traveling, relaxing days at the beach, and for the last few years of his life he enjoyed spending his winters in Florida. He was an amazing man who truly enjoyed life to the fullest and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. There will be a Celebration of Life in his honor on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Derryfield Country Club, 625 Mammoth Rd., Manchester, NH.
