Gerald C Dangelo of Franklin MA passed away on August 7, 2023, following a period of declining health from ALS.
Born in Franklin MA on July 1, 1931, he was the son of the late William Dangelo and Vera (Yadisernia) Dangelo.
Jerry served in the Navy during the Korean War, from 1952 to 1956. He was aboard the USS New, DDE 818. He told many stories about that time and was immensely proud of his service.
Jerry was a long-haul truck driver for most of his adult life. He traveled across the country and did approximately a million miles over those years. After his wife Anne passed, and a dare from his brother, Bobby, he changed careers and became a pilot and flight instructor.
Jerry loved and enjoyed life, family, friends, laughter, dancing, driving, flying, women, animals, jokes, eating, spending time with Sophie and her family, going for coffee at Honey Dew, teaching people how to fly a plane, and so much more. The most important thing that can say about Jerry is that he was a man that did what he believed to be right, even if there was a cost to him. He was loyal and generous, he helped if he could, he had a temper and was (what his father called a thick head) stubborn and extremely independent! He will be sorely missed!
He is survived by his daughter Christine and his sister Evelyn Dangelo of Milford MA.
He was the brother of the late William, Raymond, Robert, John, James, Paul, and Dorothy.
His funeral service will be held at the National Cemetery in Bourne MA on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 1:00PM. Donations can be made to the ALS Association.
