Mr. Frank Daniel Hood, 68 years old of Canton Ga., passed away Saturday, August 12th at 12:32 am due to several illnesses including COPD. Frank was born in Munich Germany on November 14, 1954, to the late and great Frank W. Hood and Florice R. Hood.
The family will gather with friends at 10 AM, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald. Memorial graveside services will follow at 11 AM at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald with Father Paul O’Connell officiating. Full military honors will be rendered as well.
Frank was a veteran of the US Army – SP4(SPC)-E4. He was a Master mechanic, plumber, and welder who enjoyed fixing things and enjoyed even more telling people how to fix things. He always loved trying to show or tell someone an easier way to do something even if he didn’t know what they were doing. Other than work Frank loved to help his family, friends, and those within his community. He was loved throughout every neighbourhood that he lived and respected by all who knew him; for, his door was always open for a neighbourly conversation, drink, and a smoke out on the porch. Among spending time with his neighbours & family – my father loved and enjoyed his scratch-off lottery tickets and playing the big games for he always said: “You can’t win if you don’t play”.
Frank is survived by his two children, Danielle Taylor and Joshua Hood. Danielle Taylor’s family includes Duane and his son Elijah (Step-grandson) who reside in Smyrna Ga. Joshua Hood’s family includes Jessica Cuevas and Angelina Hood (Frank’s Granddaughter) who reside in Buford Ga. As well as his brother and sister, David Hood (Woodstock Ga) and Denise Silcox (Cordele Ga). David is married to the beautiful Aussie Terrie Hood and Denise is married to the awesome Mike Silcox and they both have several kids and grandkids to keep them busy. Other than the direct family Frank also had a stepdaughter – the late and very beautiful Michelle Slaven who married a great man – William. They both had two kids and several grandkids to carry on the Slaven name.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honour of Frank Hood can be made to “Mission 22” at mission22.com which helps our Veterans and their families when they need it the most, right now!
Rest in peace father for you will always be Loved & Missed. Please know that we are very Proud to call you our father, Brother, and Friend!
