Helen (Droukas) Montgomery age 95, formerly of Brockton, Easton and Bridgewater, died August 20, 2023 at Good Samaritan Medical Center after a ten year battle with dementia. She was the wife of the late James Zatzos, Sr., William Montgomery and companion of the late Sonny Conova. She was born and raised in Brockton, the daughter of the late Desma (Sakells) and Peter Droukas, Sr.
She was a graduate of Brockton High School and in her younger adulthood, Helen owned two restaurants in Campello, Helen’s Restaurant and Piers Restaurant. She later was a bank teller at the Brotherhood Bank in Downtown Brockton and then retired as a service rep at the Westside Shaws Customer Service booth after many years
.
Helen enjoyed watching game shows, playing bingo, scratch tickets, and the numbers game every week and trips to the Raynham Dog Track. She will be remembered as someone who loved to go to the salon and have her hair done and manicures and socializing. Helen loved her cat Nicky, but most importantly, spending time with her family.
Helen is the mother of James Zatzos, Jr. of Bridgewater and the late Peter Zatzos of Easton. She was the grandmother of Angela Zatzos of Brockton and the aunt of several nieces and nephew. Helen was the sister of the late Peter and Nick Droukas and Ernestine Pappas.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday August 23, 2023 at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton from 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 9am for the Funeral Service at 10am in the Annunciation Greek Church, 457 Oak St. Brockton. Burial to follow at Melrose Cemetery.
