Janice Mary (Polcari) Abou-Zaki, age 71, of Medford passed away on Saturday, August 19th, at Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. Born and raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Zarella) Polcari. Janice worked for many years at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and was later employed in the field of telecommunications at MIT. She absolutely loved to cook and was well known for her infamous meatballs and sauce. Janice loved to read, especially true crime stories, as well as play Keno and Bingo. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family, and many of her fondest memories and happiest times with friends and family were spent in Salem, NH at Arlington Pond.
Janice was the beloved wife of 40 years to Samir Abou-Zaki, and the devoted mother of Janet Manning and her husband Michael of Groveland, Amy Abou-Zaki of Somerville, and Jason Abou-Zaki and his wife Lindsay of Somers, CT. She was the loving grandmother of Alisha Coppi and her husband Michael of Tewksbury, Kimberly Manning of Hyde Park, and Emerson Mae Abou-Zaki, and great grandmother of Kayley Grace Coppi. Janice was the cherished sister of the late Ralph Polcari, Jr. and Marie Komorny, and the dearest friend of Judy Barry, Patti Murphy and the late Debbie Brandano. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, August 24th at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family from 9 AM through noon. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
