John E. “Bia” Garrity Jr, lifelong resident of Medford, passed away on Friday, August 18th. He was 68. Born in Melrose, he was the cherished son of the late John E. and Kathleen (Foley) Garrity.
John was a generous, caring man with a heart of gold. He would help anyone in need; there was no one he would turn away. John’s biggest passion was his family. He especially loved his children and grandchildren. John’s family was his pride and joy; they were his world.
John was an avid hockey player. He learned how to play hockey at two years old, and became a hockey coach later on for the city of Medford. John was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, loving grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.
John was the beloved husband of 44 years to his loving wife Deborah “Debi” (Kapetanakis) Garrity. He was the devoted father of Jillian V. Washuta and her husband Ben, Christopher M. Garrity and his loving companion Leigha and the late John T. “Jay” Garrity. He was the loving grandfather of Katherine, George and Jack. He was the dear brother of Noreen Manzo and the proud owner of Laci his dog. John is also survived by many loving friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with John’s family on Tuesday, August 29th from 4 to 6 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Services will conclude with a celebration of life in the funeral home at 6 PM.
