SPRINGFIELD – Richard P. Keefe III, 76, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 17, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on January 12, 1947, a beloved son of the late Richard P. Keefe, Jr. and Eleanor M. "Babe" (O’Sullivan) Keefe. He was raised and educated in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was employed as a courier for the former New England Telephone and Telegraph in Springfield. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. During his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing and golfed in the Saint Anne Country Club Golf League in Feeding Hills, enjoyed exercising at Health Trax Fitness and Wellness Center in East Longmeadow and was active with many local animal rescue groups. Michael and his wife, Katherine, of Agawam; his cherished second cousins, Robert O'Sullivan and his wife, Katie, Shelly Hamilton and her husband, Jeff, Timothy Michael and his wife, Silvana, and Andrea Cummiskey and her husband, William; and his many dear extended family members and friends. His Funeral will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 292 Hampden Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to his Mass.
