Jane Eagan Jackson
Jane Eagan Jackson, most recently of Norton, a former lifelong Mansfield resident, passed from this life on Saturday, August 19, 2023, after a lengthy and valiant journey with ovarian cancer. She did not submit to the diagnosis, Jane lived graciously and courageously, making the most of each day.
Born in Attleboro on April 27, 1954, she was the proud daughter of the late Conley and Betty (Norton) Eagan. Jane grew up in a close-knit family with her brothers. She graduated from Mansfield High School and was a cosmetology graduate of Henry O’ Peabody School.
Surviving to honor her legacy are her husband Larry Jackson, her daughter Kelley Altieri and her husband Steven, her stepdaughter Amy Jackson, stepson Michael Jackson and his wife Sheila, grandchildren: Stevie and newly born Conley Altieri, Mary, Reilly and Timmy Jackson, her siblings: Michael (Janet), Gary (Janet), Brian (Peggy) and Mark. She is also survived by her aunt, Sister Maria Charles Norton CSJ, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Known as Mèmè to her grandchildren, they meant the world to her. The pleasure and delight she received from them made her life complete. Their “being” made Jane determined to “fight the good fight” with grace and perseverance.
Jane truly relished her profession as a hairdresser, and the rewards it brought her. She deeply enjoyed the close relationships developed with so many of her clients over her 46-year career.
A people person to her core, Jane never met a stranger. She had a selfless and loving heart. Her quick wit and infectious laugh would brighten any room. Jane had many wonderful friends, who she counted as extended family. Simple pleasures in life made her happy. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing. Gatherings with family and friends were the essence of her life and were most treasured.
Jane enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. She cherished her lifetime of memories created in the Green Mountains and at Lake Champlain in Vermont, along with on the Cape with family and friends. She looked forward to escapades with her seven lifelong girlfriends: Cindy, JoAnn, Kathy, Linda, Lynn, Paula, and Susie.
A person of faith; every day she counted her blessings. A lifelong member of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield, she also was often a communicant of Saint Mary’s in Norton.
Her family and friends are profoundly grateful for the gift of Jane. She made our lives better. Though she has left this world, memories of her warmth, compassion, and love will continue to guide and inspire us. Her spirit will forever be etched in our hearts. May Jane rest in peace and rise in glory.
