Denise Ann (Fey) Hanaberry, 77, of Franklin passed away August 17, peacefully with her husband holding her hand at Milford Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of John A. Hanaberry for the past 57 years.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, May 28, 1946, the daughter of Frank M. and Doris (Lawless) Fey, Denise was raised in Freeport, Long Island and had lived in Franklin for the past 17 years.
Her family was the greatest joy and pleasure of her life. She was a devoted Army wife while her husband John, a West Point Graduate was on active duty. She accompanied him on tours in Germany, the US and supported the family during his combat tour in Vietnam. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She loved poetry and was a talented writer who had a book of her own poems published.
Denise was a founding member of the Freeport Special Ed PTA. A devout Catholic she taught CCD for several years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived and deeply missed by her children, Lauri Lorenzo and her husband Frank of Franklin, John Hanaberry II of North Bellmore, New York, Shannon Casasfranco and her husband Juan Pablo of Louisville, Kentucky and Nicole Hanaberry of Franklin.
She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren, Sage, Tessa, Reece, Andres and John.
Denise’s funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 23 in St. Mary’s Church, Franklin at 11:00 a.m.
Entombment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00-10:45 a.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin.
