Marilyn (Fossett) Frye, 88, passed away peacefully after a short illness. Marilyn was born on April 1, 1935, to the late Grace (Lord) Affenito and Edward F. Fossett in West Springfield, MA. She was predeceased in 2013 by the love of her life, Albert S. Frye Jr., her husband of 56 years and her son, Stephen P. Frye in 2017. Marilyn will be deeply missed by her stepdaughter, Laurel Placzek and her husband Steven of Westfield; her daughter-in-law, Laurie (Taupier) Frye of Montgomery; and her beloved grandchildren, Karlyn Frye Patenaude and husband, Brendan, of Montgomery, Steven Placzek and his partner, Anna, of Chicopee and Matthew Frye and wife, Kelsey, of Montgomery. She also leaves behind three cherished great grandchildren, Diana Grace and Jett Patenaude and Sydney Anne Frye. Marilyn grew up in West Springfield and graduated from West Springfield High School. She worked at the Western Massachusetts Telephone Workers (now Freedom) Credit Union in Springfield retiring as Office Manager after 47 years of service. Marilyn was proud of bringing diversity and inclusion in the office staff during her tenure. Marilyn was a communicant of Ste. Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Marilyn was a founding member of the former West State Soccer League. She was a vibrant, social woman who loved to hear the life story of all she met. She enjoyed hosting family and friends for Sunday swims and cookouts. She also loved hosting her son’s and daughter's friends and became a lifelong friend to many of them. An In-house prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 9:45 AM. Burial will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. A visitation will be held on the morning of the funeral from 8:00 – 9:45 AM.
